Image and text - Task 11

First i started off photographing the in camera effect that i wanted to use Vaseline but instead of using Vaseline i used acetate paper. I measured the acetate paper to fit my camera lens and left a little tab so i could hold it in front of my lens and then glued confetti onto the acetate. The different type of confetti i used was angels, stars and bows. I also used cornflower, coconut, sugar, glitter, almonds and cocoa on other pieces of acetate and for some of the effects i made different shapes for example the cocoa was in the shape of an oval and this was made by having a chocolate there while gluing the cocoa in place. With this technique i photographed biscuits and Christmas cards.
It was hard to focus my camera on the biscuits and show the different types of confetti. I had my camera on aperture mode at f22. For this i needed a tripod as when i was taking some of the photographs the shutter speed went up to as high as 30 seconds. It was also quite hard to focus on the chocolate biscuits as well as show some of the confetti. But because on f22 it makes the image sharp i decided to make the whole image blurry (confetti and objects) and hope that it'd work and surprisingly it did.But when i was trying the images out i ended up with we're out of focus altogether e.g the Christmas card and the glitter were both out of focus. The images i produced for this technique i am very pleased with and would use this technique again.
I also tried putting vaseline on my camera lens and i like these images the best because i really like the effect. I originally wanted to take these photographs at night time and i managed to take a few but due to camera problems i couldn't take all of them so i waited to the morning and still had the curtains drawn so the images would be the same as i had taken the night before. i tried to position the ornaments in the centre of the image but in some the ornaments are off centre just a little bit which improves the photograph i think because if all the ornaments were in centre it would look a bit boring.
I particularly like the photoshop edit images i have done because i was just experimenting with different techniques. My favourite techniques were the 'cut out' because it makes the image seem like a cartoon/ poster, 'reticulation' because i think this made the image look better, 'stamp' because the technique made the image looks like a christmas card and 'trace contour' it outlined everything and has a little bit of colour. The technique i didn't like the most was 'emboss' because of some of the detail on the house outside ruins it, but i like the texture on the christmas tree and the table.
Although some images you can't tell what the technique is you can when the image is enlarged. Overall i am very pleased with all the images i have produced for task 10.
