Darren Hall - Street Photographer
"Straight up style"
Darren Hall uses natural light no flash, he links the people to the background and all his models have blank impressions on their face. Darren also asks them a few questions about themselves then takes their photographs.
He works in New York and London.
I think in this image the lady's tights link with the stairs in the background.
Again i think this man's red and white jacket link with the red drain on the floor and the white snow in the background.
I think this image connects very well because the man is dressed in dark colour's and the background is dark.
I think this image also is very good because the lady is wearing a checkered dress and on the floor are squares.
I think Darren Hall is a very interesting street photographer as just the littlest things in the photo can link to the subject and in some of his photographs the links aren't as obvious and you really have to think about some of them which makes them so interesting.

Story
We were given a short story to retell in 3 photographs we thought best.
"Nadine was finally asleep after hours of restlessness. Thoughts and dreams filled her head. After only a few minutes her phone rang. She jumped out of her skin. Abusive language threatened her and frightened her. She was all alone."
I like the images i have taken but i don't think these images represent the whole story.

Low Key
1st Low Key setting:
This is an example of a low key photo because of the black background and only one light on the subject.
2nd Low Key setting:
This photograph has a halo effect because the 2nd light behind the subject doesn't have the honeycomb over it.
3rd Low Key setting:
This image has the spotlight effect because the honeycomb is placed back onto the light and the light is facing the black backdrop giving the spotlight effect.
4th Low Key setting:
This photograph not only has the halo effect but it also has a reflector we used a white cardboard piece giving a softer reflection on the subject.
High Key
This was one of the first images I took. I realised after i took it that the camera was not in portrait position it was in landscape.
I like this image but i could improve it by not cutting off their feet.
I could improve this image by not catching the edges of the light stands.
This image was taken with an aperture of 20.
These are some images I took with a shutter speed of 125 the ISO at 200 and the aperture at 22.
This is set up we used:
Even though in the high key images are meant to be all bright white i like the fact that these images have a slight tint of grey at the bottom i think it gives an interesting effect.
This set up is different to the one we used before because now the lights are up close to the subject instead of far away as the last set up was.

Macro and photoshop edits
Macro photography is taking close up, detailed photographs of objects. We set our cameras in Manual mode and changed the focus point depending on where the object was in front of us.
I couldn't take as many photographs as id have liked because my camera would focus on the image but not take the photograph and i got quite frustrated. I like the idea of macro photography and i would try it again if i had a better camera or more patience.

Animation
I made an animation from 25 photos in a sequence. I like this movie because its clever how images can make an animation.
