Location Photography

We were given a building and we walked to the location of it and took photographs of it from different angles.

We also took a section from the building and a few images of it, making the images cross over into the  next part of the photograph.

Shutter Speed and Aperture

Shutter speed controls the amount of time the lens is exposed to light.

Shutter speed can effect a photograph by adjusting the shutter speed you can control the movement of the subject for example a fast shutter speed will freeze the subject in action and a slow shutter speed will make the subject look blurred as it moves for however long the shutter is open for.
An example for a fast shutter speed would be a footballer in action or a racing car.
An example for a slow shutter speed would be a car at night to capture the headlights as a trail and an athletic runner.
An example of a fast shutter speed i have done is light trails. To take photographs like these I changed the setting on your camera to shutter priority and change the shutter speed to 3 seconds. I also changed the ISO settings to 200 which is the lowest on my camera making the image underexposed.

This image is taken with a light. I would improve my ISO settings on this because it was quite high and the image is not totally dark as you can see some background lighting.

I like this image because you can see the light figure but you can also see some background lighting which makes the figure look like its sitting down on a chair. I would change the image if i took this again by taking the photo from the side so you would be able to see the light figure on the chair and also try to make the image sharper instead of being blurry.

I like this image because with lights you can create any effects.

I also took photos of a water fountain on a slow shutter speed to give the blurry effect.

Aperture is the hole or the lens in the camera that lets light through to the cameras sensor.

Aperture can effect a photograph by depth of field for example a wide aperture (F-4.5) gives a shallow depth of field meaning the object in front of the camera is more in focus than whats behind the object.

An example of this is portrait photography. I decided to use a cuddly toy.

But if you use a narrow aperture(F-22) then the whole image should be in focus, more sharper.
An example this is used for is landscape photography but i used a class room.
As you can see most of the image is sharp apart from some peoples movements.

Architectural Photography

I like this image because of the reflection in the window making the arch look like a love heart. i wouldn't want to improve this image because i like it the way it is.

I like this image because i tried to mirror it on each side and i think it looks really good i could improve this image by getting more of the right window in to really make the reflection work.

I like this because of the reflection in the glass of the stained glass on the roof. I could improve this image by straightening out the image instead of it being at an angle to show more of the reflection.

I like this image because it leads your eye into the right hand corner of the image. I wouldn't improve this image because i like the composition of it but also the reflection and section of the window i took.

I like this image because the background of the image looks like a studio background. I also like the composition of the image because it leads your eye into the picture.

I like this image because of the reflection in the glass of the buildings nearby and how the windows point out when the rest of the building is flat. i wouldn't change this image because i like it.

Modernist look And Contemporary

I like this image because its blurry and it gives the dream like feel. I wouldn't change the image if i had to because it looks like a semi circle and i like that effect.

Iwouldn't change this image if i had to because all the features are sharp and thats the effect that modernism has.

These images are to show that blurry images(contemporary) can also be as effective as images(modernism) where in the modernism image everything has to perfect and sharp.

Street Photogrphy

Street Photography is capturing peoples moments with the street in the background. For example two people talking and a person having a coffee.

For our photoshoot we went to brigate and took photos of people in Aperture mode and had to alter the settings for the photos i took.

I like this image because it was a windy, rainy day and it was a natural picture of somebodys umbrella being blown away by the wind. I dislike the angle of this photo and if i could take it again i would change the angle i took it at e.g being stood more to the side of her so i could capture the moment of her struggling to keep her umbrella up in the high winds and rain.

An example of a street photographer is Matt Stuart. He took this photograph and i tried to copy it in my own way.
